I_M_P_O_R_T_A_N_T *********************************************************************** SMTP in TCP/IP services for OpenVMS V5.3 (or V5.3-18 as shown by a PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCT command) has a bug that causes leading periods ("." in position 1 of any line(s)) to be doubled. Until this is fixed, PLEASE SEARCH DCL_DIET.COM for this problem and correct it using any OpenVMS editor. (This _ONLY_ applies to doubled "." in position 1 and 2 -- or, if mail is forwarded, you may see tripled "." in 1, 2 and 3, etc.) If you do not make this correction, DCL_DIET.COM will not work. NOTE: The version of DCL_DIET.COM that I send you may have this problem corrected by adding a SPACE at the start of lines that would otherwise have a period in position 1. As an alternative, if you have DCLDEIT or DCL_DIET available, you can recreate DCL_DIET.COM by using either of these to process DCL_DIET.COM_SOURCE. You can also use DCL_DIET.COM_SOURCE directly, but this is much slower when processing large DCL command procedures. *********************************************************************** The next three email messages from me will be: DCL_DIET.COM DCL_DIET.COM_SOURCE DCL_DIET FREEWARE_README.TXT Please let me know when you have received this -- or if you do not. To use DCL_DIET just execute it $ @DCL_DIET [] DCL_DIET.COM_SOURCE is the full version, with comments. The .COM has had the comments removed and been "compressed" by DCL_DIET. This makes it execute somewhat faster. DCL_DIET_FREEWARE_README.TXT is a copy of what is provided on the OpenVMS Freeware CD. Please let me know when you have received these files, and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
